DEDICATIONS
Mr. ScottLouis W. Scott III
Principal

Our Principal, Louis W. Scott III, died in August of 2000. Mr. Scott was 70 and had been in excellent health. He was extremely active and very fit. In April of 2000, Mr. Scott had a gall bladder problem, had surgery, and was having a difficult time recovering. He was later diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away on August 13th of 2000.
Mr. Scott served as Principal of Penncrest High School from 1959 to 1989. He told me that he knew it was time to retire. I think 30 years of motivating students ("What's the Matter with Kids today?") should be enough for anyone.
He accepted the position as Special Assistant to the President of Delaware County Community College in 1989 and worked with President DeCosmo until 2000. In addition, Mr. Scott was an Educational Consultant to Suburban Cable (later Comcast) from 1990 to 2000.
Mr. Scott was active in numerous community organizations and received many awards and much recognition. It always seemed to me that Mr. Scott never sought the spotlight, but yet it found him. He was very modest and surprisingly shy when people or groups wanted to recognize his many accomplishments.
Louis W. Scott III Field      Because of who he was and what he did, today the Penncrest football field is the Louis W. Scott, III Field. In June 2001, Upper Providence Township dedicated the Louis W. Scott, III Park (on Ridley Creek Road). The Lou Scott Golf Classic is held annually at Glen Mills golf course that provides scholarships for Penncrest students attending Delaware County Community College.
Mr. Scott was great to the Class of '68. Somehow, when he told me that we were one of his favorite classes, I really believed him. The Rose Tree Media community truly lost an epic figure.

Mr. Falcone Claude J. Falcone
Art Department -1958 to 1993

Mr. Falcone was an extraordinary teacher and he remained a mentor and friend to many Art Majors long after they graduated. He reluctantly retired from teaching in the early 90's due to failing health, but continued to head the district's art department until 1993. He died on August 26, 2000, in Ridley Creek Park, while enjoying a beautiful summer day. Several '68 alumni attended his funeral. Art Majors from around the world and through the decades of graduating classes reunited for a tribute to Mr. Falcone in November 2000.

A memorial web site honors his career - www.califex.com/falcone.

This Memorial is not complete without recognizing and honoring those who died in the Vietnam War
during and after our years in high school.

"If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving
for the places they can no longer go."       – Maj. Michael O'Donnell, March 1970, Dak To, Vietnam

We are indeed fortunate that, to our knowledge, no one from the Class of 1968 lost their life in that war.

The Reunion Search Committee compiled this list based on the best available information.
Our apologies to anyone listed here in error and to anyone we may have omitted.
